Because Heidi Ruby Miller apparently cannot get enough of my works in progress, here’s the novel I’m currently finishing for an exciting indie publisher (working title: Abens in Remota). This is the same “look” blog tag game I participated in yesterday. The rules are simple:
1) Search your work in progress for the first use of “look”.
2) Copy and paste that paragraph and the ones immediately before and after into a blog post.
3) Then tag five other authors:
Without further ado, here’s the excerpt from Abens in Remota:
“Eventually I’d open my eyes to discover you observing me over your shoulder. Bored already? you’d ask. And I’d be like, Trust me, this is the most entertained I’ve been in months. And you’d shake your head with a long bat of the eyes and a smile that translates into, Really? Really? Whatever you say, buddy.
“And we’d finish watching the movie. That would be the perfect morning for me.” Sean hesitates, looks down at his feet. “I know it’s a repeat. And it could be that we hit perfection too early in our relationship. But, hey: maybe that’s a good thing, considering how it all turned out. Know what I mean?”
The six-year-old girl bound and gagged at his side sobs. She does this whenever his gaze moves to her prone form. The sobbing is no longer accompanied by struggle; she has learned fighting against her bonds only leads to pain.

On that cheerful note, I encourage you to now click through to the blogs of the other authors I tagged if you have not done so already. Thanks!
